Saturn Aura XE/XR-4/XR-6/Hybrid Review
The Saturn Aura is a mid-size car produced under the Saturn brand of American automakerGeneral Motors. It debuted as a concept car at the North American International Auto Showin January 2005. The production model of the Aura was shown at the 2006 New York Auto Show in April, with production commencing in North America in the summer of 2006 for the 2007 model year. The Aura replaces the Saturn L-Series, which was discontinued after the 2005 model year.Although Saturn had never intended to use the Aura name for the production vehicle, the name ended up sticking as a result of the popularity of the concept. The Aura was considered an important model for both Saturn and General Motors. It was part of a product rejuvenation for Saturn intended to make the firm profitable as well as competitive with European imports.Reaction to the Aura has been positive, both in terms of reviews and sales. Saturn Aura XE/XR-4/XR-6/Hybrid Standard Features and Equipment
The standard equipment for Saturn Aura XE Model are the 169-hp, 2.4-litre, 16-valve, DOHC, I-4 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT), 6-speed automatic transmission with TAPshift®, MacPherson strut front and 4-link independent rear suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, StabiliTrak® electronic stability control system, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and dynamic rear proportioning, Air conditioning, Remote keyless entry, OnStar® with one-year Safe & Sound Plan, CD/MP3 player with AM/FM stereo, auxiliary input jack and 6 speakers, Dual-stage frontal airbags with Passenger Sensing System, Seat-mounted driver and front passenger side airbags and side head curtain airbags, 17-inch fascia spoke painted wheels, Heated outside power rear-view mirrors, Cruise control, 60/40-split folding seats, Power window and locks, and the Power height-adjustable driver’s seat.
The Saturn Aura XR-4 includes XE Standard features, plus Bright chrome door handles, Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, Heated front seats, 8-way power driver’s seat, Steering wheel mounted audio controls, XM Satellite Radio™ with 3-month trial service, Bluetooth® hands-free phone system, 17-inch split-spoke alloy wheels, Auto dimming inside rear-view mirror with compass, Remote vehicle starter, Auto dimming outside rear-view mirror, and the Universal home remote.
The Saturn Aura XR-6 includes XR-4 features, plus 252-hp, 3.6-litre, 24-valve, DOHC, V6 engine with VVT, 18-inch alloy wheels, Fog lamps, Automatic climate control, Leather-appointed seats, and the Dual chrome tip exhaust.
The Saturn Hybrid includes XE Standard features, plus 164-hp, 2.4-litre, 16-valve, DOHC, I-4 Hybrid powertrain, 17-inch split-spoke alloy wheels, Hybrid instrumentation with charge/assist gauge, eco light and autostop indicator, Tire inflation kit, XM Satellite Radio with 3-month trial service, Automatic climate control, 8-year or 160,000 km warranty, whichever comes first, on specific Hybrid components.
